Greenwich Village Pied-à-Terre
This seventh-floor pied-à-terre sits in a 1925 Helmle & Corbett co-op, above the surrounding rooftops and filled with natural light. Anchored by works from Eric Aho and Sara Dykstra, the art-forward retreat blends saturated color and tactile materials with the warmth and intimacy of a favorite boutique hotel.

The living room's arched ceiling and original 1925 plasterwork set the scale. Warm textiles and furniture sized to hold their own beneath it keep the room from feeling formal, while a chased-silver chandelier by Sawkille draws the eye upward.
A custom Sawkille credenza pairs bleached and ebonized walnut with shell inlay and silver appliqué. Among its flora and fauna are a book and a knot of yarn, nods to the clients' love of reading, writing, and knitting.
An oil on linen by Sara Dykstra was commissioned for the wall behind the sofa. Its colors informed the Kerry Joyce silk velvet on the A. Rudin sofa and moss linen on the Lawson Fenning chairs.
Two-tone paint and new Classic Brass hardware refresh the existing kitchen cabinetry. A striped valance layers over a woven shade, with an egg shade by Roman and Williams Guild overhead.
Just off the kitchen, the den serves as a lounge, dining room, and guest room. A darker, more enveloping palette leans into the room's small size.
Perforated walnut doors conceal the television in a custom media cabinet, folding and pocketing into the sides when it's in use.
When the room is used for dining, the walnut table moves in front of the sofa and extends.
Holland & Sherry amber silk wraps the walls of the primary bedroom walls, shifting with the light throughout the day. A glazed ceramic piece by Cindy Hsu Zell hangs above the bed.
A bleached walnut vanity by Towards Nightfall pairs splayed legs with crushed abalone inlay. Beneath it, a custom Erden alpaca rug has metal inlays that echo the entry credenza.
